Post wedding

Yeah its true. I got married last month. Been busy.

Pics from the day can be sourced via my mother's facebook photo album (you might need to become her friend), or a very small selection from our own little camera given to one of the guests can be found here.

Despite the weather (100mL of rain overnight and during the day in spurts of torrential rain and wind), it was a totally awesome day.

Following the wedding we had a recovery day back on the farm, and then cruised around Gippsland for the week.

The first two days were shared with our friends, Deana and Jimmy from Vancouver, Canada. We would have loved to have shown them so much more, but we were in the mood for cruising at an ultra slow pace, and they had a limited time in the country, so as planned we parted ways after a couple of days and they discovered the Great Ocean Road and Melbourne before flying home. Though we thoroughly enjoyed their company and being able to spend extra time with them after coming out all that way!
At Seal Rocks, Phillip Island
At Eagles Nest, along the 'Better than Average Ocean Road', which is located east of Anderson/Western Port Bay and runs essentially from Kilcunda to Inverloch.

Jimmy and Deana took the Ikarus for a spin. That sounds like a V8!!

Aye carumba - after an underestimated trek across the unmade section of the Grand Ridge Road, we made great friends with some crimson rosellas at Tarra Bulga National Park. They didn't mind sitting on the back of the ute to enjoy their Naan bread (which was all we had to share).

Roses at Walhalla.

We spend a night at the Windsor House at Walhalla, which was simply wonderful. A real treat in such a lovely part of the world.

Managed the hike up to the cricket ground, located a vertical 200m above the location of this photo. Back in the day, the cricket ground was circled by a cycling track. No vehicular access, so the bikes would have been carted over the shoulder up the steep walk. Crikey! No sign of the bike track now though, but the cricket ground remains.

Regrowth from the preventative bush fire strategy to hold off the Dec 06 fires throughout the Victorian Alps.

Walhalla is a former gold mining town, which means an obligatory panning exercise.

No luck for Ewin.

Jimmy forced to find another get rich quick scheme after futile attempts.

We checked out restored facilities of the Thomson Station which forms part of the Walhalla Goldfields Railway. The train was offline due to major repair issues but is scheduled to be back for the summer.

Thomson Dam - Melbourne's main drinking water supply - at 19% capacity. Memories of Ewin and I as kids visiting the Dam at much much higher levels. We were astounded to see the contrast first hand.

Downstream of the Dam the Thomson River is a good place for a bit of fishing (or reading).

No luck though.

We spent the rest of the week hanging out back at the beach in Inverloch and Cape Patterson. Very chilled out and relaxing week.

Heading back to the farm we stopped by Mt Worth State Park - the original location of our wedding ceremony before it was rained out. A nice way to round out the week before returning to work.
